Chipiona beaches are bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. They are open water and ocean currents renewed by daily and featuring internationally recognized quality and cleanliness. Currently four of its beaches the Blue Flag award for Europe’s seas (To get this award, in addition to voluntary initiatives, must meet the requirements of Quality of bathing water, environmental education and information, environmental management and security services and facilities).

The quality of our water was first recognized by Dr. Tolosa Latour, renowned pediatrician in our area who built the first Spanish Maritime Sanatorium, back in 1897 After traveling for 10 years all the coasts of Spain, Chipiona elected by the mild climate, temperature and water quality, among other factors. In this first Sanatorium, were cured of serious illnesses, hundreds of orphans due in part to the rich iodine and other trace elements containing the  local waters and exceptional climatic and natural conditions, as described above. + Info

Some History :

Chipiona , town of the province of Cádiz situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the mouth of the Guadalquivir River, is a true outdoor spa . Nature in Chipiona is so generous that it can provide everything a person need to recover or even heal.

In fact the city can be proud of many cases of healing since ancient times. Is it because the black Virgin of Regla? Is it because of its beaches of healing waters with high iodine content?

Dr Tolosa latour

Chipiona waters are graced by a high iodine content which gives them a healing power known for over a hundred years ago. In the late nineteenth century various medical specialists, including Dr. Tolosa Latour, conducted a study of the Spanish beaches in order to establish the first sanatorium in Spain. The Regla beach was preferred and highlighted by “the quality of its waters and its air and the orientation relative to the wind.” Dr. Tolosa Latour founded there the first Maritime Spanish Sanitarium , Sanitarium Santa Clara in 1897 where many people were treated and cured affected by tuberculosis , rickets and other diseases. + Info

Chipiona, February 1, 2013. – Chipiona has been commissioned to open the program stand the Provincial Tourism on Friday at FITUR 2013.

The Delegate of Tourism, Javier Diaz will present the 150th anniversary of the foundation stone of the Faro de Chipiona. To mark this anniversary, Chipiona is planning a full calendar of cultural and leisure activities to be submitted to the tourist agents. Furthermore, we have shown the range of museums of the town, the existing projects that are coming, the Museum of Rule Interpretation Centre Cadiz and the New World and museum Muscat, to which must be added a near future, the Museum of Rocío Jurado, the Interpretive Centre Chameleon and dunes and a permanent room in Chipiona lighthouse itself. + Info

The good weather contributed to the show in the third edition of Chipiona beaches Duathlon, a test that combines sport and promoting tourist center on the stage of a privileged environment.

A successful participation, 150 enrolled, and the public, more than ever, the outcome of the event was organized by the delegation of Sports and Athletics Club duathletes Chipiona bringing together nearly all the Andalusian provinces. Participants praised the site for the location of the circuit and the pits on the beach, which combines the beauty of the natural environment and the hardness that generates the sand beach.
